A few months ago I was viewing my landscapes with a critical eye (which artist doesn't) and decided I wanted to improve on what I saw. As a member of the Blaauwberg Art Society, we get to attend different lectures and demonstrations by various South African artists. That month it was a demonstration by popular landscape artist, Dale Elliot. How's that for serendipity! The demonstartion was fantastic and informative and as a result I did one of his interactive courses.
I am now painting (and enjoying) landscapes! Which for an artist who loves doing big, bold abstracts, is quite something and they are very popular! I have done a number of ones of the area in and around Robertson and now am working on a series of Boschendal Estate scenes. I have even done some abstract landscapes, bringing the two styles together.
I have not given up on my big abstracts, but am now lucky to be able to enjoy expressing myself doing something so complete different as well!
